It was four years ago when Italy defeated France in the World Cup in Germany, and its that exciting time again where everyone is supporting their countries in the biggest football competition there is.
Miroslav Klose, Germany's fantastic striker, was the player who received the Golden Boot for scoring the most goals in the World Cup four years ago. But who receive that award this year? Here are my possible candidates:
- David Villa - He become a star in the last World Cup and much more so in Euro 2008 and could become a brighter one in South Africa's World Cup!
- Wayne Rooney - If he can keep fit and keep his temper controlled this time around, He may just prove to be the best player of the tournament since he's always unpredictable and can capable of absolutely anything.
- Lionel Messi - The Argentinian has been absolutely amazing form prior to the world cup, scoring superb goals in the Champions League and making a mockery of other world class players.
- Luis Fabiano - With his team being the most successful winners in World Cup history, and being in his current regular scoring form, Fabiano has a high hope of bringing the Golden Boot.
- Fernando Torres - The Spanish striker has gained experience and scored many goals this season for Liverpool, he's half of a magnificent striking pair with David Villa for Spain and proved this in the European competition
- Cristiano Ronaldo - Portugal made it to the Semis last time and this time Ronaldo may score his way to the final.
If I had to choose one, I'd probably go with Messi, simply because he's the world's best player at the moment and he makes scoring look so easy!
