I've never heard of Maxthon web browser before yesterday when I discovered it on the internet. I was looking for a web browser that would respond a little bit faster than Internet Explorer 8 but kept the IE compatibility intact so that I could still use Sharepoint websites.
Maxthon 3 is completely different than its predecessors because it integrates 2 different rendering engines which can be switched immediately. These are the Trident layout engine, which is used for Internet Explorer, and the WebKit engine which is used by many new web browsers for its super-speed of rendering web pages.
Using a combination of these two display engines means that an end user like me doesn't have to wait for Internet Explorer to load up and navigate to the page that only works with IE. This is extremely convenient for me and I'm sure it'll be for many other web surfers out there. All you do is click on the compatibility button (which looks very similar to the one in IE8) to the right of the address bar in order to change rendering engines.
Considering it is only an early beta, I can't exactly pick at holes and bugs it has but I'd like to state a few features that could be added:
Despite my complaints, I think this browser looks incredible promising and I’ve heard it has beaten Google Chrome in a few benchmarks which is very impressive! I’ll also like to add that it’s my favourite browser at the moment and the one I’m using the most.
